Geobicom starts a new project in Zapoapan, Veracruz supported by CONANP.

Our organisation has got two new projects about natural resources conservation by Natural Protected Areas National Commission (CONANP), which will be developed in Zapoapan, Veracruz, a rural community living inside of “Cañón del Río Blanco” National Park. In these projects, we will develop a feasibility study for an Environmental Education and Ecotourism Centre and also, an Environmental Education and Ecotourism Course will be taught to the inhabitants of this community in order to they have all the necessary tools to execute the project. Additionally, a preliminary study about local biodiversity will be developed, not only to support the importance of the zone, but also to provide information to the Environmental Education Programme.

Geobicom starts a new consultancy:

“Technical diagnosis to determine environmental conditions in three gullies in Mexico City”. This study involves three gullies: Temixco, Mixcoac and San Buenaventura. The objective’s project is generating socio-environmental information about these gullies in order to determine their disturbance level. This consultancy involves a geomorphologic study, abiotic (climate, geology, soils, etc.), and biological characterisation (flora and fauna), analysis of water quality, as well as the establishment of a socio-environmental analysis model to interpret the site dynamic and disturbance level.

Jaime Rivera won the third place in a photographic competition called “Plants, flowers, fruits and seeds… Mexico’s natural richness”.

Jaime Ernesto Rivera Hernández won within the “Structure of Plants” category. The competition was organised by the Chapingo’s Autonomous University and SAGARPA. The winner picture is called “Conchita of Mexico City”, and is referred to Echeveria secunda Booth ex Lindl. (CRASSULACEAE). This species is protected by Mexican Law (NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2001), under category En Peligro de Extinción (In danger of extinction).
